Kitchen Countertops Tustin, CA
Full slabs to choose from, fabricated in our own shop and installed by our own crew.A countertop is the one surface in a kitchen you touch every day, and the one most people pick from a sample the size of a coaster. We would rather you pick it standing in front of the actual slab. Granite, quartzite, and marble vary from slab to slab even under the same color name, and the veining you fall in love with on a 3 inch chip may not show up where your sink goes.
City Tile & Cabinets has fabricated and installed countertops across central Orange County since 1998. Our showroom on State College Boulevard is about 6 miles from Old Town Tustin and about 8 miles from The District at Tustin Legacy. We template your kitchen, cut and finish the stone in our own shop, and install it with our own crew. No piece of the job is handed to an outside fabricator.
What Tustin Kitchens Usually Need
Tustin Ranch. Kitchens built in the 1980s and 1990s around Tustin Ranch Golf Club often still have tile counters with grout lines or early granite with a dated edge. The cabinet boxes in these homes are frequently sound, which makes a countertop and backsplash replacement the most cost-effective update in the house.
Tustin Legacy. Newer homes near The District usually came with entry-level counters. Owners here tend to upgrade to a thicker slab, a waterfall island end, or a full-height backsplash cut from the same material.
Old Town Tustin. Smaller kitchens in the Craftsman and bungalow blocks around El Camino Real often have walls that are out of square. Careful templating matters most here, because a countertop cut to a perfect rectangle will leave gaps against an old wall.
North Tustin. Larger custom homes in Lemon Heights and Cowan Heights often have big islands that need two slabs, which brings seam placement into the planning. We lay out seams with you before cutting so they fall where you want them.

How Countertop Installation Runs
- Slab selection. Pick your material at the showroom. For natural stone, we reserve the slab you chose.
- Templating. Once base cabinets are set and level, we template on site, marking the sink, cooktop, and any seams.
- Fabrication. We cut, edge, and polish in our shop, usually within one to two weeks of templating.
- Installation. Most kitchens are installed in a single day, with the sink mounted and seams finished on site.
- Walkthrough and care. We go over sealing and cleaning for the material you chose.
If you are keeping your existing cabinets, we check that the boxes are level and solid at the measure. A heavy stone top on a cabinet that has shifted will crack.
Dust, Silica, and Why Shop Practices Matter
Cutting stone releases fine silica dust. Engineered quartz is especially high in crystalline silica, and the California Department of Public Health tracks a rising number of silicosis cases among stone fabrication workers. Cal/OSHA requires controls such as wet cutting and respiratory protection in fabrication shops; its silica FAQ covers the rules.
In May 2026, California’s Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board voted to have Cal/OSHA begin rulemaking that would bar fabricating and installing engineered stone with more than 1 percent crystalline silica (petition 609). The rule was not final as of this writing. If you are set on quartz, ask us where things stand when you visit, and we will show you porcelain slab and natural stone alternatives side by side.
For your home, the practical point is simple: the cutting happens in our shop, not your kitchen. On install day we only make small adjustments, and we keep dust contained.
Permits and Your Kitchen
Replacing a countertop in place usually does not need a permit. Moving the sink, adding outlets, or changing walls does. The City of Tustin requires a permit for plumbing and electrical work, and North Tustin projects go through OC Development Services. If the countertop is part of a larger remodel, our Tustin kitchen remodeling page covers the full process.
Why Tustin Homeowners Come to Tile Row
Our showroom at 1535 S State College Blvd sits on Tile Row, one mile from Angel Stadium and about 6 to 8 miles from most of Tustin. Bring a cabinet door, a floor tile, or a paint chip and hold it against the slab. That ten minutes saves more regret than any other step in a kitchen remodel. We are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How long does countertop installation take?
Fabrication usually takes one to two weeks after templating, and installation is usually completed in a single day.
Can I replace my countertops without replacing my cabinets?
Yes, if the cabinet boxes are level and structurally sound. We check them at the in-home measure.
Do I need a permit to replace countertops in Tustin?
A straight replacement in place usually does not. Moving the sink or adding electrical work does.
Can I see the actual slab before it is cut?
Yes. We keep full slabs at the showroom and reserve the one you pick.
Do you fabricate in house?
Yes. Templating, cutting, edging, and installation are all done by our own team.
Do you come to Tustin to template?
Yes. We template in Tustin, North Tustin, and Tustin Legacy once your cabinets are set.
